Client Challenge: Client is a global aerospace and industrial products manufacturer with a long history of private ownership. The organization is in the business of producing materials serving the aerospace, space, chemical, petroleum, and construction markets. To maintain compliance with Federal and local regulations the client must maintain a levels of metals in wastewater below regulatory limits. Existing wastewater treatment facility was deemed inadequate for the volume of wastewater produced.

Practical Solution: Our company reviewed the Client’s international operation in a process to determine the capability of the existing wastewater treatment facility. This process included a thorough review of all process water generated for both contaminants and volume. After the study was complete there were a several issues which needed to be addressed to alleviate existing treatment system from being replaced.

Client Challenge: Client is a privately owned global expandable polystyrene cup, container and extruded plastics manufacturer. The organization is in the business of producing materials serving the healthcare and consumer markets. To maintain compliance with local regulations the client must maintain a levels of air contaminants below regulatory limits. Existing facility was deemed inadequate for the volume of emissions produced based on an upcoming regulatory change.

Practical Solution: Our company reviewed the operation in a process to determine the least invasive method of capturing emissions and maintaining a level of emissions which allowed the facility to continue to operate. This process included a thorough review of all processes with emissions generated along with the associated type and volume. After the study was complete the facility was able to continue making product with similar or better product quality.

Result: As a result of this process, the company has seen the following improvements:

• Ability to comply with a newly generated/ targeted air quality rule;
• Generation of 1 % of total energy use from newly designed emissions capture;
• Creation of a safer and more environmentally manufacturing facility; and
